“In my judgement he was Labor’s greatest prime minister. But his key achievements – financial deregulation, tariffs cuts, and the beginnings of privatisation – went against the Labor grain, as Labor’s more recent policy direction shows. You might almost say he had a Labor heart, but a Liberal head. Certainly, the Coalition supported nearly all his big reforms, helping to make his tenure a time of economic revitalisation.”

For a first I’ll make a political comment. I don’t like Tony Abbott. Never have. His politics are his concern, but I don’t like the man – forget politics, I just don’t like the man. I find him smug and offensive. He simply has very poor people skills with those he doesn’t like. And of all times to try to show some understanding and compassion, here he is at it again.
