Community groups urged to apply for funding
Member for Redlands Kim Richards is urging local community groups to apply for funding under the next round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which opened yesterday last Thursday.
Ms Richards said community groups in the Redlands region are able to apply for grants worth between $500 and $35,000, to go towards upgrading services or purchasing much-need equipment.
“Every year the Gambling Community Benefit Fund distributes about $53 million of gaming revenue to Queensland communities,” Ms Richards said.
“This fund is Queensland’s largest once-off grants program and allows community groups to fund projects that might have otherwise been out of reach.
“This can include allowing groups to purchase equipment and upgrade their facilities so they can improve the services they provide to the community.”
Ms Richards said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to supporting local community groups.
“These groups are the backbone of our communities and I encourage all eligible groups to apply for this funding.
“This fund is open to organisations that have not-for-profit objectives and are community based.”
Organisations can apply through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund online grants portal.
Applications close February 28.
